Knock ‘em, sock ‘em robots and ring generals lead a busy week at retail along with the Conduit, Spore expansion, Resident Evil Archives, and new Shin Megami Tensei and Overlord games.

Following up on weeks that saw high profile launches like inFamous, The Sims 3, Prototype, and Ghostbusters: The Video Game, the summer release schedule continues to simmer. A week after gamers enjoyed ghost-busting the spectral invaders of Manhattan, players can now enjoy playing behemoth Autobots and Decepticons this Tuesday.
In the game based on this week’s film of the same name, Activision’s Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen picks up a few years after defeat of Megatron. In the single-player campaign, players fill the mechanical boots of either the dastardly Decepticons or the noble Autobots, shifting between movie-based and original missions. In the online multiplayer mode, players can choose among five different match types.
Boxing fans might enjoy the new fourth round of the Fight Night Round series. In Fight Night Round 4, a new physics engine more accurately mimics the visceral nature of boxing, allowing players to watch their opponents swell, cut, and bleed like never before. The game ships on Tuesday for the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3. Players of Spore might be interested in the PC add-on pack, Spore Galactic Adventures, which offers customizable adventures for players’ space-faring civilizations.
It’s a banner week for science fiction throughout the new release list, with High Voltage’s near-future first-person shooter for the Wii, The Conduit, also landing in stores. In the game, players fight against extraterrestrial invaders who took themselves to America’s leader and captured Washington D.C. This Sega-produced Wii-exclusive game will hit store shelves on Tuesday.
Also being released on the Wii this week is Resident Evil Archives: Resident Evil. An adaptation of the GameCube rerelease, Archives introduces new controls designed to take advantage of the Wii’s motion-sensing controller. The new version also retains the GameCube’s numerous enhancements to the original title, including a significant graphics overhaul, and new areas, items, defensive weapons, and creatures.
Fans of the demonic Shin Megami Tensei series can look forward to the latest iteration for the DS, Devil Survivor. Set in the bustling metropolis of Tokyo, players must stop demons from destroying the city in this strategy RPG adventure hybrid. For those seeking the ever-popular goal of world-domination, Codemaster’s Overlord II might be an option. As the heir to the Overlord, players take on the role of the demonic tyke known as the Overlad. The game is available for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. Two other iterations of the Overlord franchise are also coming out on the Wii and DS this week, Overlord Minions (DS) and Overlord: Dark Legend (Wii).
